about baggage pursuant the Ministry
of Transportation Decree No.1/36
of 28 January 1987, ENAC (Italian
Civil Aviation Authority) instruction
Apt-09 of 8 May 2001 and ALITALIA
General Conditions of Carriage
1.
In addition to the checked baggage
within free baggage allowance, for
airport security and flight safety
reasons, each passenger may carry
free of charge in the aircraft cabin:
– in the limits of the capacity
of the provided storage compartments
– only one piece of hand baggage,
identified with a label (reporting
his or her name and surname) to
be affixed by the passenger himself
or herself, provided that the sum
of its dimensions (length, height
and width) does not exceed cm. 115
(about 45,3 inches)
2. In addition to the fore mentioned
baggage, the passenger is allowed
to carry in the aircraft cabin –
always consistently with the space
available – the following items:
- one briefcase, or paper-holder,
or personal portable computer
- one camera, one video camera
or one CD player
- one overcoat or raincoat
- one umbrella or walking-stick
- a pair of crutches or another
walking aid
- one portable cradle and food
for babies as to be necessary
during the journey
- items to be read during the
journey
- goods purchased at the "Duty
Free" and other shops within
the airport premises (in limited
quantity and dimension), anyhow
so as to be easily put in the
available cabin storage compartments
3. For safety reasons, it is not
allowed to include into passenger's
baggage the dangerous items or articles
listed below, as examples:
- Explosives, weapons, ammunitions,
other than hunting or sporting
ones, belt caps, fireworks and
flares, as well as similar looking
toys
- Compressed gases (refrigerated,
flammable, non-flammable and
poisonous) such as butane, oxygen,
liquid nitrogen, camping-gas
and aqualung cylinders
- Flammable liquids and solids
such as lighters and fuel for
the same, matches, paints, thinners
- Poisons and infectious substances,
insecticides, weed-killers and
materials containing viruses
- Corrosives, such as acids,
alkalis, mercury and wet cell
batteries
- Radioactive materials
- Oxidising materials such as
bleaching powder and peroxides
- Other dangerous articles such
as magnetised materials, harmful,
toxic, stinking or irritating
materials
- Alarm devices and inserted
lithium batteries for electric
supply
- Dry ice
- Electric waterproof torch
with batteries inserted
4. Furthermore, it is not allowed
to include in the baggage:
- items and goods which do not
constitute baggage as defined
in the General Conditions of
Carriage, because they are not
necessary or not useful to be
worn, used and held in relation
with the journey
- items which are likely to
endanger or jeopardize the aircraft
or persons or property on board
the aircraft
- items the carriage of which
is prohibited by the applicable
laws, government regulations
or orders of departure, arrival
or transit Countries
- items which in the opinion
of Carrier are unsuitable for
carriage by reason of their
weight, shape, size, character
or package
- live or dead animals
- valuable, fragile or perishable
goods and items, money, jewellery,
silverware and precious metals,
negotiable papers, securities
or other valuables (such as
stock and shares), business
or commercial documents, passports
and other identification documents,
set of samples, computers and
their equipment, electronic
devices for personal purpose
5. The aforesaid prohibition does
not apply to articles and items
necessary to the passenger in relation
with his or her health conditions,
provided that such articles and
items are carried in his or her
hand baggage in reasonable quantity.
